Environment Agency Water Strategy for Buildings

In recent years, there has been a major overhaul of planning policy, driven by climate change and flooding. There is now a much greater emphasis on controlling surface water run-off and this requires planners, developers and contractors to look closer at the management of water.
The Environment Agency has set a pre-development flow rate for all new building developments which can be difficult to meet in urban areas where there are space constraints and difficult methods of construction. Space that was traditionally used for large basement tanks or underground storage systems, is now being used for car parks and bike storage areas.
We are fully aware of the challenges this brings and that’s why we developed our solution, the Rainwater Interception System. The rainwater is controlled at source and attenuated at a designated rate from the roof or podium into the underground drain.
