Polypipe has taken a controlling interest in pultrusion and compression moulding manufacturer, Plura Innovations, expanding its expertise in advanced materials technology. The move will see Plura integrated into the Polypipe Infrastructure & Landscape division to enhance manufacturing capabilities and broaden its product offer to include access chambers and specialist ducting systems along with unique landscape solutions for urban and suburban environments.
A strong strategic fit for Polypipe, Plura will help strengthen the division’s infrastructure portfolio and establish a broader platform for innovation centred on materials and manufacturing processes that support the environment and an efficient circular economy.
“Our investment in Plura will complement the existing Polypipe Civils & Green Urbanisation offer, extending opportunities both above and below ground,” said Steve Durdant-Hollamby, Divisional Managing Director of Polypipe Infrastructure & Landscape. “With the world class production knowledge within Plura, we will be strengthening our solutions for utility, road and rail applications, and supporting stakeholders in creating infrastructure that is holistic, integrated and sustainable.”
In particular, the investment brings on board the expertise of Andrew Wright, Plura’s Managing Director, Technical Director, Graeme Pringle and Sales Director, Greg Parkin who all have extensive experience in advanced manufacturing for infrastructure.
“The Plura team provide Polypipe with expertise in a number of strategic product areas, particularly access chambers, covers, bridges and rail platforms, as well as thermoset composite material production process knowhow,” said Andrew Wright. “Together we see a very bright future for next generation products and materials, which will be a focus for research and development across the division going forward.”
